Six black soldiers are sent on a mission to retrieve a shipment of gold by their racist colonel, who plans to kill them as soon as they bring the bullion back. However, the men outwit him and go on the run with the loot, heading for their leader's home town - where he is confronted by the man who murdered his father, and finds the black community caught up in a struggle with hostile white neighbours.
