Peter Watkin's documentary, commissioned by the BBC and shot in stark fashion, exploring the devastating probable effects of nuclear war on the UK. The corporation were so shocked by the film, they wouldn't screen it, which resulted in it getting cinematic release instead - and winning the 1967 Academy Award for Best Documentary. With commentary by Michael Aspel and Peter Graham
The War Game airs on BBC Four HD at 10:10 PM, Wednesday 30 July. (Subtitles.)
