Since then, they've appeared at the 2014 and 2022 finals but won just one of their six group games, a 3-2 victory against South Korea four years ago. Their opponents tonight have performed well at the last two tournaments having reached the semi-finals in 2022, when they lost 3-0 to eventual champions Argentina, which followed on from being beaten finalists four years previously. During that run to the showpiece match in Moscow they beat Denmark, Russia and England in the knockout stage, with all games going to extra-time, before ultimately losing 4-2 to France in the final
