He begins by visiting a 6,000-year-old axe factory in the Lake District to explore how the use of stone shaped a belief system that included the cosmos for the first time. The historian also joins people arriving in Stonehenge to celebrate the mid-summer sunrise, and learns about the religious and sociological significance of the monument
