Berlin 1945
Season 1 Episode 1 of 3
Life in the German capital in the year the Second World War ended, told through the stories of those who experienced it - from ordinary Germans to the Allied forces who entered the city. At the beginning of 1945, Berlin remains under the spell of the Nazi promise of salvation, an illusion at odds with the city's daily reality of bombing raids, fires to be extinguished and corpses to be buried. Life goes on as the front lines of the war close in each day
Berlin 1945 airs on BBC Four HD at 11:00 PM, Monday 7 July. (Subtitles.)
