The events surrounding the referendum to leave the EU, beginning as David Cameron won a shock majority at the 2015 general election, with the implications immediately dawning on all concerned. There is no coalition negotiation to stop the Conservatives from fulfilling an election pledge to hold a referendum on whether to leave the EU. Nigel Farage resigns as UKIP leader, but quickly U-turns and sets up Leave EU to campaign for Brexit, while Conservative MPs Boris Johnson and Michael Gove decide whether to back Leave or Remain
