The contestants face two challenges designed to gauge both their creativity and culinary repertoire. First they much each invent a dish on the spot for judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace from a market full of ingredients, including poussin, clams and whole bream. Then they respond to a brief set by food critic Jimi Famurewa, who asks them to serve up a plate of food with an interactive, playful or theatrical element
