BBC Young Chorister of the Year - Junior Semi-Final
Aled Jones and Rev Kate Bottley host this year's BBC Young Chorister of the Year, which begins with the junior semi-final at Hallé St Peter's in Manchester. Once again, Songs of Praise and BBC Radio 2 have come together to showcase the young vocal talents, beginning with five singers aged 11 to 13 who perform a sacred song for judges David Grant, Laura Wright and Cameron Richardson. The programme features much-loved hymns Amazing Grace, Lord of the Dance, Dear Lord and Father of Mankind, and Were You There When They Crucified My Lord, alongside The Lord Is My Shepherd by Howard Goodall. The choristers all come together to sing the modern hymn The Summons, written by John Bell and arranged by Helen Leach
