A Merry Tudor Christmas with Lucy Worsley
A Merry Tudor Christmas with Lucy Worsley
The historian recreates festive traditions from the reign of Henry VIII. With the aid of food historian Annie Gray, she prepares two royal feasts, including a stuffed boar's head served by a choir, and the ancestors of the modern mince pies and Christmas cake. Lucy also gets a taste of the rabble-rousing anarchy of the Lord of Misrule, listens to carol singers performing a song written by Henry VIII himself, and watches a special royal performance involving dancing stags
A Merry Tudor Christmas with Lucy Worsley airs on BBC Two Wales at 9:30 PM, Thursday 18 December. (Subtitles, repeat, audio description.)
