Ulster Museum

Season 1 Episode 2 of 4

Dublin-born social historian Emma Dabiri uses artworks held in the Ulster Museum in Belfast to explore a different way of seeing the world - through the eyes of artists. From the portraiture of Pompeo Batoni to the etchings of Giovanni Piranesi, her tour takes in the splendour of Rome as well as Sri Lanka, Morocco, Mexico and even Antarctica. Dabiri examines how artists brought to the UK their vision of the world and metaphorically transported art lovers across continents before the invention of the jet engine

Inside Museums airs on BBC Four HD at 7:00 PM, Wednesday 5 November. (Subtitles.)
