Bronte's Britain: The Tales Behind the Novels

Gyles Brandreth travels to the West Yorkshire moors, a landscape synonymous with the stories of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte, who spent almost their entire lives there. Gyles visits the Parsonage, where the sisters lived and which is now preserved as the Bronte Museum. However, 130 years ago it was where the young Brontes' imaginations flourished. As children, they invented imaginary worlds here, and as adults wrote literary classics such as Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall

Bronte's Britain: The Tales Behind the Novels airs on 5SELECT at 6:00 PM, Friday 29 May. (Subtitles.)
