Richard Madden narrates a documentary exploring the extraordinary story of amateur film-maker Harry Birrell, with the first of two parts going back to before the Second World War where his journey with film began. He captured in vivid detail his army training at Hamilton Barracks and Dunbar as he and the troops prepared for battle. On his return from service, he turned to the Scottish mountains for his next adventure as he became an active member of the fledgling Scottish skiing scene and recorded his adventures
