Natural World: The Bat Man of Mexico
Season 33 Episode 6 of 10
Since he first kept vampire bats in his bathroom as a child, Mexican biologist and ecologist Rodrigo Medellin has dedicated his life to saving all species of the flying mammal. In this film, David Attenborough narrates his quest to save the endangered lesser long-nosed bat, which is crucial to the production of tequila as it pollinates the plants the drink is made from. Medellin tracks the bats' epic migration across Mexico - braving hurricanes, snakes, Mayan tombs and seas of cockroaches
Natural World: The Bat Man of Mexico airs on BBC Two Wales at 12:20 AM, Wednesday 4 March. (Subtitles, repeat.)
