1,700 Years of the Nicene Creed

Season 2025

Pam Rhodes celebrates the 1,700-year anniversary of the Nicene Creed and explores why this ancient declaration of beliefs is so important in the history of Christianity. At the Coptic Orthodox Church Centre in Stevenage, Pam unpacks the background and impact of the Nicene Creed with Anba Angaelos, archbishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church, The Roman Catholic archbishop of Birmingham, Bernard Longley, and the former archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams. With each representing a very different branch of the Church, they explore why the creed is such a powerful symbol of Christian Unity

Songs of Praise airs on BBC One London at 1:15 PM, Sunday 19 October. (Subtitles.)
