Part one of two. A stabbing victim (guest star Christopher Colquhoun) accuses the husband of a woman he once had a brief affair with, but forensic evidence reveals his wounds are self-inflicted. Realising how unstable the man is, Smithy mounts a frantic search to stop him reaching the woman's daughter, and catches up with him at her school.
