Ecuador v Curaçao

Ecuador v Curaçao (Kick-off 1.00am). Coverage of the Group E match at Kansas City Stadium in the USA. Both of these teams were exemplary in qualifying for this tournament, with Ecuador only suffering two losses in their 18 matches in the CONMEBOL region as they went on to finish second in the standings, while Curaçao were undefeated in all 10 of their matches across two stages in the CONCACAF region. The team known as The Blue Wave are now one of just five Caribbean teams to compete at a World Cup finals, and coming into this staging of the competition no team from the region had progressed beyond the group stage, with Cuba having made a quarter-final appearance in 1938 when the finals only consisted of a single-elimination tournament involving 16 teams. Both countries had disappointing results in their first games of the finals, as Ecuador conceded late on to lose 1-0 to Ivory Coast, while Curacao were thrashed 7-1 by Germany in their finals debut
