Colm Toibin: His Mother's Son - Imagine...
Season 2014
Alan Yentob meets Co Wexford writer Colm Toibin at his homes in Ireland and Spain, where he reveals the origins of his novels, which often return to the dark narrative of his childhood and the complicated relationship between mothers and sons. In the year that his bestseller Brooklyn is being adapted for the cinema, he has also recently published the new novel Nora Webster. Having taken 14 years to write, it promises to be his most poignant and personal one yet. With contributions from Fiona Shaw, Anne Enright and Nick Hornby
Colm Toibin: His Mother's Son - Imagine... airs on BBC Four HD at 1:30 AM, Friday 16 May. (Subtitles.)
