The Secret Life of Midges
As one of the few flies in the British Isles that feeds on human blood, Scottish midges can cause havoc for anyone who has to live and work among them. On a journey around some of the country's more infested places, entomologist James Logan of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine investigates why some people are more attractive to the bloodsucking flies than others, examining how best to cope with them and learning whether some people might have their own natural midge repellent
The Secret Life of Midges airs on BBC Scotland at 8:15 PM, Saturday 7 June. (Subtitles, repeat, audio description.)
