Just a few weeks ago, Joe thought he was about to have it all. He and Dawn were preparing for their wedding day, and the arrival of their baby. But in the blink of an eye, his happiness was ripped from him.
After Jimmy crashed into the marquee, Dawn went into early labour, giving birth to a little boy. But shortly after, she haemorrhaged and passed away. This left Joe utterly broken, and with a huge decision to make.

Ever since Dawn’s death, Joe hasn’t been able to visit their son, blaming him for being the reason Dawn died.
It’s been very obvious Joe hasn’t been dealing well with the loss. From lashing out at Dawn’s kids to promising revenge on Caleb and Ruby, things just seem to be going from bad to worse.
However, everyone hoped tonight might be a turning point, as he finally went to visit his baby son. Joe stood alone with him, and even put his hand on his, hoping to feel some fatherly connection.
That didn’t happen though. And when Joe returned to Home Farm, he informed the rest of his family that he has been thinking about what’s best – and he wants to put his son up for adoption.
Joe told them that he “can’t have that child” in his life, leaving everyone stunned.
Emmerdale fans predict surprise Kim twist
However, one person determined not to let this happen is Kim. Viewers just discovered she had her own baby daughter put up for adoption years ago. Now that daughter has returned. But Joe’s decision is clearly stirring up some tough memories.
That’s why Emmerdale fans are predicting that she will be the one to take baby Tate in temporarily– or even adopt him.
One fan penned: “After today’s episode, I can definitely see Kim adopting baby Tate.”
Another agreed: “Yeah, Kim is not letting that baby go anywhere.”
“I don’t know if she will adopt him, but she will take baby Tate in until Joe is in a position to raise him” a third theorised.
Over on Reddit, Emmerdale fans were thinking the exact same thing. One wrote: “After today’s episode I am so convinced that Kim and/or Graham will adopt Baby Tate. They are determined not to lose him. And with the Thea storyline happening at the same time, it makes sense.”
“Kim is adamant they won’t lose that baby, so I think she will take him in for a while” another commented.
However, one fan proposed Billy could be the one to raise baby Tate, to keep him with his siblings. They wrote: “I think Billy could foster him or adopt. That way Kim and Graham could be in his life and all the kids would be together.”
