In tonight’s episode of Coronation Street (Tuesday, April 7), Sam Blakeman accused Will of insulting him as he continued to spiral.

With Will denying approaching Sam or doing anything to upset him, Sam continued to hear Will’s insults and ended up running so fast that he landed on the floor.

After watching Sam struggle, fans of the ITV soap are now worried that this is the start of a serious mental health storyline for the character.

Sam’s struggling to cope in Coronation Street

Ever since Megan started to get into Sam’s head, teen Sam has been struggling to cope with the pressure.

He feels as though Megan and Will are out to get him, with Sam accusing Will of trying to intimidating him with horrible phone calls.

As Will acted confused while with Liam, Sam begged him to stay away from him and assured him that he wasn’t scared.

Will denied doing anything, reporting back to Eva that Sam had a vendetta against him. Of course, Eva then had her own word to say where Nick and Leanne were concerned.

At the end of the episode, Sam looked behind him and saw Will throwing insults in his direction. This prompted him to run away, stumbling to the ground.

Coronation Street fans predict serious mental health storyline for Sam

Corrie viewers reckon that Sam is seeing and hearing Will when he actually isn’t there, providing an explanation as to why Will looked so baffled when Sam confronted him over the phone calls.

Fans have now taken to social media to suggest that these scenes could be the start of a serious mental health storyline for Sam. And, it could see him diagnosed with schizophrenia.

One fan commented: “”What does everyone think about Will’s phone call to Sam in today’s episode? Will’s voice in the call sounded quite off which was possibly not intentional but was just suss. In my opinion, it only makes sense to be a paranoia / psychosis situation on Sam’s behalf… There’s been gradual hints to Sam’s mental decline and lack of stability in recent episodes and his growing distrust of those around him, so just assuming this is a direction they could go with for him in the future.”

Another person also added: “Yeah, I was suspicious about that too. Why would Will ever call Leanne’s phone to threaten Sam? I think the writers are going to make Sam a schizophrenic. It can be triggered by stress, or trauma.”

A third person shared: “I’m wondering if Sam is getting a schizophrenia storyline. First paranoia, now an auditory hallucination.” But, could this be where the storyline is heading?
