The police turn up in Classic Emmerdale

There’s a shock in store for the Dingles when the police – including Martin – turn up to arrest Sam for Alice’s murder.

Appalled at what’s happening, Cain and Zak tell Martin that Sam’s not there. But things get chaotic as the police try to get into the house. Cain shoves Martin away then he and Zak bolt the door and barricade it with furniture. Lisa is horrified.

Ashley confesses

Ashley is forced to tell shocked Laurel what’s going on and he admits he feels awful for betraying Sam’s confidence. Laurel sympathises with her troubled husband.

The pressure mounts in Classic Emmerdale

Later, as the pressure builds at the Dingles’ house, Zak calls a Dingle Court and tells the family that someone is going to have to confess to get Sam off the hook.

Insisting that baby Samson needs his dad, both Marlon and Zak offer to take the blame. But it’s Cain who eventually steps up and says he’ll go to prison for Alice’s death instead.
