Joe and Ella in Emmerdale

In Emmerdale last night, Joe and Dr Crowley continued to plan for tomorrow’s operation, but Ross Barton kept getting in the way.

Elsewhere, Ella Forster was determined to clear her name, but ended up making herself homeless when she spilled Manpreet’s secret.

Joe got rid of Ross

Ross continued to wind Joe up by sneaking up on him and telling him that as head of security he can go wherever he wants.

Later, Joe spoke to Manpreet in the pub where he continued his act. He told her Caleb’s blood test had come back negative for AAT. Ross watched on, suspicious at the interaction.

Joe then met with Dr Crowley in a lay-by, where they both confirmed things were good to go for the operation tomorrow. But once again, Ross appeared and knocked on the car window.

Joe told Ross they were just having a meeting, Ross rightfully commented “funny place to have a work meeting”.

Dr Crowley was spooked by Ross’s sudden appearance and said they’d have to reschedule the operation incase Ross tailed Joe again.

But Joe had a plan, he met with another accomplice, who told him: “The best way to get to anyone is through the people that they care about.”

Sure enough, Ross received a phone call saying his brother Pete has been attacked and he rushed off to be with him. Operation get rid of Ross: tick.

However, Dr Crowley was still nervous and told Joe “this job is more complicated than I thought. I didn’t expect so much outside influence”, before asking for an extra £50k. Though he did agree that the operation could go ahead tomorrow as planned.

Joe also got rid of Dawn

Dawn was full of beans as she spoke to Joe about a potential weekend away. But when she started talking about walks in the woods and couples massages, Joe was horrified.

Joe told Dawn she was being a bit full on and that this isn’t what they agreed. He then brutally informed her that they were finished.

Sensing the tension, Kim later spoke to Dawn. Dawn admitted: “I have been a complete idiot.” Yes you have.

Kim gave Dawn some home truths such as “men like Joe don’t do feelings”, before telling her to work at fixing her marriage to Billy.

Liam let Ella get in his head

Chas kept up her side of the bargain by dropping the charges against Ella, but Ella refused to leave the Dales and was instead determined to stick around and clear her name.

Ella went to see Liam and begged him to listen to her. She told him that she was certain Chas was addicted to painkillers. She then got personal as she reminded him that he isn’t always good at spotting things as he didn’t realise Leyla was on coke.

Liam took Ella’s words to heart and went rooting around Chas’s cupboards. Chas walked in on him and he was forced to admit that he’d been checking her tablets as he’d let Ella get in his head.

Chas stormed into the pub where Ella was sitting with Manpreet. Mandy and Manpreet were both horrified to learn that Ella had tried using a dead woman to make a point.

Liam later called Ella “a poisonous, manipulative bitch” and encouraged her to leave the village.

Ella spilled Manpreet’s secret

Manpreet Sharma accused Ella of being deluded and asked her to move out of her house.

Later on, in the cafe, a desperate Ella continued to bang on about Chas’s supposed addiction, telling Manpreet that she is as much to blame as anyone. “You’re supposed to be her doctor, you should have spotted the signs, but you didn’t.”

Before she could help herself, Ella blurted out: “Maybe because you were too distracted plastering naked photos of yourself all over the internet.”

Claudette, who was sitting nearby with Charles stood up and demanded to know if it was true, saying: “We have a right to know whether the local GP is some kind of pornographer.” Well, quite…

Manpreet remained calm and told everyone that Ella was unwell to the point of being “completely deluded”. She accused her of “fabricating malicious lies” and told her to move out of her house immediately. Where will Ella go now?

Steph Calen and Jai at the depot in Emmerdale
Caleb tried to shut Jai down (Credit: ITV)

Jai was like a dog with a bone

Jai has been determined to discover the Miligan family secrets and last night he was like a dog with a bone.

First he approached Laurel to ask about the rumours surrounding Anthony. Laurel told him that her and Nicola had got it wrong about Anthony liking young girls. Jai was still suspicious though and it didn’t help matters when Laurel slipped up by saying: “There is a lot more going on with that family than you realise.”

At the depot, Jai spotted that Steph looked upset and decided to take advantage. He asked Steph about her grandfather and kept fishing for information over and over and over again.

It seemed he had finally broken Steph, but just as she was ready to talk, Caleb walked in. Caleb eventually agreed to tell Jai the truth.

Caleb told Jai that the reason he hadn’t been bothered about the break in at the depot was because he set it up himself and was planning an insurance job. He told Jai that Steph found out and told Anthony, who threatened to go to the police. Caleb said things then got physical between him and Anthony and Anthony was badly hurt. Continuing the fabricated story, Caleb told Jai that Steph is now upset because she recently found out about it.

Will Jai buy the pack of lies?
