What happened in Emmerdale Friday: Joe’s in a coma, Kerry’s acting shady, Manpreet came clean, and the police want answers
Joe’s fighting for his life
The aftermath of Joe Tate‘s fall was revealed in Emmerdale Friday, May 9 as he was rushed to hospital, where his condition soon worsened. And, as news of Joe’s defenestration spread around the village, so did accusations of wrongdoing.
As Kerry fled the scene of the crime, a guilt-ridden Manpreet confessed to her part in Joe’s kidney heist, while Charity, Noah and the Miligans all began to point the finger at each other.
Meanwhile, Kim was determined to find out who done it, and DS Desari issued a stern warning. But who pushed Joe?
Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale.

Noah found Joe unconscious as Kerry fled the scene in Emmerdale
Joe lay broken and prone on the ground outside Home Farm, surrounded by glass and bits of window. And it was Noah who found him there, while an exhausted Kim Tate enjoyed an evening tipple on the doorstep. As Kim called an ambulance, she confirmed he was still breathing – so not dead yet.
As Noah looked on, Kerry snuck past in the background, seeing the unfolding scene… and then running away. Something to hide, Kerry?
Meanwhile, Vinny and Gabby were cuddled on the sofa inside when Noah rushed in, informing everyone of Joe’s fall. Dawn rushed out to her lover’s side, manhandling him as he lay unconscious, his injuries still unknown.
It was deja vu for Jimmy, who immediately recalled his dad’s own fall almost ten years ago. But would Joe suffer the same fate as poor dead Tom King?

Accusations flew as Kerry and Manpreet covered their tracks
In The Woolpack, Mary was behind the bar when a shifty Kerry entered, along with Manpreet. Kerry was still keeping quiet about what she’d seen, but clearly needed a drink to settle her nerves.
Still shaken over her part in Joe’s kidney theft, Manpreet was acting odd too – although both women claimed to be fine. Not even bothering with her dink, Manpreet rushed out, leaving Mary wondering why everyone was acting so oddly.
At the hospital, Noah and Kim arrived with Joe, finding Jacob lurking in the corridors. They informed him what had happened, although neglected to mention that he’d been accused of causing Leyla’s death.
Back in the village, news of Joe’s fall was beginning to spread. Charity shared the tale with Caleb and Ruby – who wondered how she’d gotten the news so quickly. Caleb and Steph were quick to suspect hot-tempered Charity, who denied both her own involvement and that of Noah.
She shot back with her own accusation – especially given that the pair were celebrating something. But they had an alibi, and were with Cain and Chas when it happened.
Back at the hospital, Kim learned that Joe was suffering a fractured pelvis but was still very much alive. Taking a seat with Noah, she questioned what he’d been doing outside. Just then DS Desari arrived with even more questions, who noted Home Farm’s peculiar history of people turning up dead or seriously injured.
Well, if there’s anyone who knows a thing or two about men being pushed out of windows at Home Farm, it’s DS Desari.
Noah revealed that he’d seen someone fleeing the scene of the crime. He was unable to answer quite why he was lurking around outside, nor give a satisfactory description of who he’d seen running away.
Why is Noah covering for Kerry?

Joe’s conditioned worsened in Emmerdale
Returning home, Kerry found a suspicious Pollard and Matty waiting for her. They too were suspicious of her whereabouts as she continued to ask shifty. As the three discussed Joe’s fate, Pollard shared his own experience as a seeker of revenge. As the men left, Kerry removed something from her bag and stashed it in a nearby cupboard.
Meanwhile, Liam found Manpreet at work, snooping around on the computer. As murder mystery fan Liam questioned who’d done it and their motives, Manpreet broke down in tears. Eventually noticing that she was clearly not fine (nice work, detective Liam), he pressed her on what was wrong.
Back at the hospital, Kim and Noah watched as a member of staff called for a neurosurgeon, informing them both that Joe had suffered a brain bleed and been put in an induced coma. “Is that bad?” Noah wondered, prompting a savage response from Kim. “Put it this way. Would you like your brain to start bleeding?”
Well, we were all thinking it.

Jacob learned the truth about his mum’s death
Pollard, Matty and Kerry were still speculating who’d pushed Joe (and Kerry was still acting strangely) when Jacob arrived home. Sensing the weird atmosphere, he demanded to know what Joe had done.
It was then that Pollard shared the news that Joe had spiked Noah – and was responsible for the limo crash. What will Jacob do next?

Kim made a promise in Emmerdale
Back at Home Farm, Dawn comforted Clemmie, reassuring her that she’d not done anything wrong. She headed off to get an ice cream bar as Kim arrived, sharing the news of Joe’s bleeding brain.
Kim was fairly blasé about Joe’s condition, sharing her suspicion that Billy might have attacked Joe. Her apparent laid-back attitude just a cover for the steely Kim Tate inside, she informed Dawn that she planned on finding out who’d pushed Joe – leaving Dawn looking very worried.
Does Dawn know something about Joe’s fall?

Manpreet opened up to Liam
At the surgery, Manpreet confided in Liam, telling him about her recent issues, including the saucy pictures she’d been posting online. Revealing that she’d been blackmailed over the pictures, she told him how Joe had paid off the blackmailer… in exchange for her off-the-books services as a doctor.
Manpreet told Liam about the blood test she’d carried out on Caleb, sharing her suspicion that he’d been responsible for the kidney theft. Appalled, Liam told her she risked being struck off if anyone found out. He was reluctant to keep quiet – risking his own job –especially so soon after Wendy.
Will Liam agree to cover for Manpreet?

Knives out at the Woolpack in Emmerdale
At The Woolpack, Ruby and Charity continued to exchange meaningful looks as Noah arrived. Sharing news of Joe’s condition, he asked his mum whether she’d been responsible. She denied her involvement – pointing out that she’d left at that point, while he’d still been there.
Outside, Jimmy admitted to Caleb how odd it had been that Joe had been pushed so soon after he’d talked about his own dad’s death. “You might have given someone the idea,” Caleb suggested, leaving Jimmy mortified. As Caleb confirmed that the police didn’t seem interested in either of them, he pressed Jimmy on how the original Home Farm whodunnit had ended.
“Nobody was prosecuted in the end,” Jimmy replied (spoilers!), still covering for brother Carl.
Inside, Vinny speculated over who might have been responsible (another vote for Billy), while the Miligans continued to look like the cats who’d gotten the cream. Paying a visit, DS Desari was quick to notice how cheery Caleb seemed to be in the wake of Joe’s attack.
He was also suspicious to see Noah there, noting how he wouldn’t be going for a pint if it was his own half-brother who’d been pushed out of a window (seems reasonable to us, though). As Charity leapt to her son’s defence, the detective eyed up the suspects – asserting that whoever attacked Joe would get what they deserved.
And, if he takes a turn for the worst, the culprit could be facing a murder charge too. Cue shifty looks from Charity, Noah, Kerry, Matty, Caleb and Ruby.
