Fans of Emmerdale have put forth the opinion that Chas Dingle should go full evil mode and embrace her inner villain as she forced Ella out of town last night. Chas’s move came as she was determined to be rid of Ella, and continued to make life miserable for her rival.

Blaming Ella for her ‘overdose’ and collapse last week, Chas didn’t take too kindly to her whispering in Liam’s ear, and continued her campaign of menace. Ella appeared to get the message, handing her house keys back to Manpreet and heading out of town.

Chas was overjoyed to see Ella go, describing herself as ‘ecstatic’ when she saw her leave. Overkill, perhaps? Especially given Chas has no real evidence that Ella had anything to do with the drugs.

Chas should go ‘pure antagonist,’ fans demand

Writing on a Reddit thread as last night’s episode aired, some wondered whether Chas might be beyond redemption at this point. So where to go from here? How about embracing her inner villain?

“I don’t [know] how the writers think that the majority of the viewers would want to root for this woman. So, they might as well just make her a pure antagonist at this point,” wrote one fan on the social media site.

“At least then, I’d actually enjoy her as character because she’d be presented the right way, not this pretend moral-compass the writers seem to see her as. Also, I think Lucy Pargeter could pull it off,” they continued.

“I really don’t believe the bosses want her necessarily redeemed at all. This is Chas’s character…sometimes funny, sometimes good, sometimes bad,” another agreed.  “So I say rather than make her a full on villain, just leave her as she is. She’s got enough villainy in her as it is…”

What’s next on Emmerdale as Chas chases Ella out of town?

It seems as though she’s gone, but Ella will be back next week. As her vendetta against Chas grows, she bombards both her and Liam with messages, even sending an e-mail to Belle cancelling the wedding.

Later, Chas and Liam are sure Ella was responsible when they spot a smashed window at the pub. Elsewhere, Ella corners Mandy and demands to speak to Liam – refusing to let her go until Liam agrees to speak to her.

Liam arrives and pretends to believe Ella. He even suggests that they get back together. However, it doesn’t take long before Ella realises he’s playing her for a fool. Chas and Mandy arrive, but Ella grabs a knife and flees – with Liam following.

He confronts her in the woods and she pushes him. When he hits his head on the ricks, Ella is convinced that she’s killed Liam. Has Ella’s murderous side resurfaced?
