Or some that appear for only a fleeting moment. Over the years Emmerdale characters have tackled some huge storylines, proving what an asset to the show they really are. But occasionally, a character is brushed to the side and not given much material to work with. Surprisingly, this has happened with many characters, who have been overshadowed by the huge storylines going on at the minute. But fans are now wondering when they will ever come back. So, let’s have a look at characters who haven’t been in the spotlight for a while. Laurel hasn’t been seen in ages (Credit: ITV) 1. Where is Laurel? Taking to X, one character wrote: “Day 1 of asking where Laurel is.” And this sparked numerous people to reply with other characters that haven’t had air time lately. Laurel Thomas hasn’t been seen in quite some time. And there has been no explanation for her disappearance. Since her arrival in 2002, Laurel has been at the centre of quite a lot of hard-hitting storylines. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers From her role in Ashley’s dementia story, to her own alcohol addiction storyline, Laurel hasn’t had it easy. But lately, we don’t get to see much of her. If we see a glimpse, it’s at Hop, when she’s serving someone, or overhearing some gossip. She was there when her former step-daughter Gabby got engaged. But she hasn’t been seen since. Bob hasn’t appeared much since Cathy left (Credit: ITV) 2. Emmerdale missing characters: Bob In older episodes of Emmerdale, if there was a cafe scene then Bob Hope would be in it. But lately, that hasn’t been the case and it’s been Nicola instead. Bob has had a big few years in Emmerdale after the death of his son, which put him front and centre. But now that his daughter Cathy has temporarily left the village, he’s basically vanished from our screens. Perhaps when Cathy makes her return, Bob will also reappear. Where is Lydia in Emmerdale (Credit: ITV / EI) 3. Lydia hasn’t been seen in months This one has been talked about on the show too. Currently, Lydia is off looking after her mum – and even missed her dramatic 50th birthday party. But nobody really knows why Karen Blick hasn’t appeared on the show in ages. A lot of fans feared she may have secretly left, but that isn’t true. Rodney barely appears in the show anymore (Credit: ITV) 4. Rodney makes fleeting appearances Rodney Blackstock may have just appeared on our screens for Eric’s birthday. But he spends months at a time missing. Then he randomly pops up for an episode or two, and starts the cycle again. But his disappearance is never acknowledged, so viewers actually have no idea where he goes when he isn’t there. Jimmy makes small comedic appearances now (Credit: ITV) 5. Emmerdale characters missing: Jimmy Just like the others, Jimmy King has been involved in quite a lot of drama over the years. But lately, nothing significant has been happening. The last anyone really saw of him was when he was drunk at Lydia’s birthday, reminding everyone of how his dad died – before Joe got pushed out the same window. But other than that, Jimmy hasn’t been on our screens, and when he is, it seems to be more for comedic moments rather than any serious storylines. Arthur should be used more (Credit: ITV) 6. Arthur is a missing Emmerdale character Younger cast members in Emmerdale tend to pop up and vanish quite a lot, allowing them to keep up school work. But Arthur is one of the older teens on the show, and lately, there has been no sign of him. He didn’t play a huge part in April’s storyline, which was strange because they are best friends. And even when she got home, he only made some small appearances with her. Some fans thought he and Dylan, April’s friend from the streets, may have a romantic connection. And with Dylan set to return, could Arthur finally get another storyline? Angelica had a dramatic few years and now isn’t seen (Credit: ITV) 7. Angelica Emmerdale began using their younger characters quite a lot. But suddenly, this has stopped and the only one getting the focus is April. But not long ago, Angelica was in the centre of Heath’s death storyline as she was driving the car. Then she went to youth prison. And when she returned, she struggled for a while. However, since then, she hasn’t been seen. 8. Emmerdale characters missing: Moses Moses isn’t the only one of Emmerdale’s missing kids. But he is one of the main ones that bring a lot of questions. Before Ross made his comeback to the village, it was easy for Charity to say Moses was off visiting him. But now that Ross is back, neither he nor Charity ever seem to actually have Moses with them. Yes, he is mentioned a bit between them. But both of them are usually on our screens, involved in their own storylines – and Moses isn’t there. 9. Johnny is never seen on the show Another missing youngster that brings a lot of confusion is Johnny. Vanessa is a single-mum. And she spends a lot of her time at work, or with other villagers. But never actually with her son. And usually, she doesn’t really even mention looking after him. So where exactly is he?
