Fans demand ‘justice for Paula Lane’ as Ella gets locked up in final scenes
Ella’s time in Emmerdale has come to an end
Emmerdale fans are extremely unimpressed with Paula Lane’s exit as Ella Forster, convinced she deserved to be treated better.
Paula’s exit from Emmerdale was first reported at the beginning of the year, through her own Talent Spotlight page. It confirmed she finished filming for the soap in February.
At the time fans were annoyed at how underused Ella was, but now that her exit scenes have aired, they are even more unimpressed. While the character had quite a lot of potential, none of it ever came into fruition.

Ella had been accused of drugging Chas, then stalking them and smashing the pub’s window. But she was adamant that it was not her (We think we believe her?).
With the genius Paula Lane playing her, it’s unclear whether Ella is being truthful or is just a really convincing liar. But last night (April 3) she made her return to the village, locking Mandy inside until she could speak to Liam.
When she and Liam were face-to-face she tried her best to make him see they belonged together. The doctor pretended to take pity on her, and Ella thought if she confessed then he would take her back. However, when she realised it was a set-up she retracted everything she said.
Chasing Ella to the woods, a scuffle ensued and Liam hit his head. It wasn’t long before the police arrived and Ella was arrested. The last we saw of her, she was locked in a prison cell.
With Paula Lane having confirmed that was the last of Ella, fans are extremely annoyed.
Fans demand justice for Paula
Taking to X after the episode, fans expressed just how annoyed they were.
One wrote: “That was a really pathetic exit for Ella. She had so much potential to be a great addition to the village. The writers ruined it with a pathetic love triangle between Liam and Chas. Paula Lane is a fantastic actor and she deserved better than that.”
Another added: “If this is Ella’s exit then it is pathetic. Paula Lane deserved so much better. What a brilliant actress. Her character was wasted. There was so much potential for Ella!”
A third penned: “It’s a shame about Ella. I think given the chance she would have been a good character and fitted in well.”
However, as well as being annoyed for Paula, fans also don’t believe that Ella actually did anything she was accused of. Meaning her exit was completely meaningless.
One commented: “I swear that Ella didn’t cancel the wedding or drug Chas or smash the window. I honestly reckon it’s John tormenting Chas to make her and everyone else think it is Ella. I feel so bad for her.”
Another backed this up: “I feel like Ella was telling the truth and it will all come out at some point.”
