Kerry, Mack, Cain - review of the week

Our Emmerdale review this week is full of unlikely wisdom from unlikely people. With Kerry, Cain, and Mackenzie all talking more sense than they’ve ever done before, it shows just how messed-up things are in the village!

From the kidney plot to Nate’s murder and John and Aaron’s wedding plans, things are all a little bit chaotic in Emmerdale. This week it’s been left to those – ahem – unexpected voices of sanity to point out just how bonkers things have got.

Here’s everything that’s been going on in our Emmerdale review.

Tracy almost tried to find Nate!

We got a bit excited this week when Tracy and Kerry were talking about Nate. Kerry – uncharacteristically wisely – pointed out that Tracy could track down her ex via the wind farm in Shetland where he said he’d be working.

We thought this was IT. That finally Tracy would discover Nate never turned up for work. Except she didn’t bother contacting him after all. Because apparently, nicking money from the man who was like a father to you, and counting every penny is easier than making a phone call.

Another option that Tracy has overlooked is contacting Nate’s fierce mum, Cara. Presumably she’s also worried about her son going AWOL. Come to think of it, we’re surprised she’s not been in touch with Tracy or Cain herself. It’s very strange.

And so poor Nate’s body continues to languish at the bottom of the lake. When will Matty remember what Amy said to him before she died?

Emmerdale review: How much Dawn is too much Dawn?

There has been a lot of Dawn this week. A. Lot. And she’s making some very bad decisions, putting her own lust for untrustworthy Joe above her kids. Being unhappy with Billy is one thing but throwing everything away because of kidney-stealing Mr Tate is another.

We’re positive he doesn’t love her, we don’t think she loves him, and frankly the whole thing is baffling. Plus, it’s bound to end in tears.

Caleb should have just called the police

We are delighted that Caleb twigged what Joe had done so fast. But we were very disappointed that his immediate reaction was to kill his nephew. I mean, come on. When Cain is being the voice of reason, it’s definitely time to question yourself!

It’s true that Joe seems to have somehow worked out what happened to Anthony, but he doesn’t have any actual evidence, does he? None whatsoever. Whereas Caleb’s missing a kidney and Joe’s got his. Which we’re pretty sure is compelling enough to convince a jury.

Mind you, we’re not even sure there’s a law about nicking other people’s internal organs – does it happen often enough to merit it being a crime? However we feel about this storyline, it’s definitely got us thinking!

Emmerdale review: “You’d have done the same”

When Caleb told Kim about his kidney plot, she was shocked. And when Joe said she’d have done the same if she’d been in his position, we were impressed she didn’t laugh out loud. No one would do that, Joe. No one.

Emmerdale's John serious
Yes John’s killed a few people, but could he still be Yorkshire Hero 2025? (Credit: ITV/ Composite EI!)

Killer John could be Yorkshire Hero 2025

John’s crazy hero complex continued this week, when he nominated himself for a bravery award!

It would be funny if we didn’t know about the people he’s killed along the way.

And we can’t help thinking the fact that Aaron didn’t know if John had any family or friends is a big old red flag that should be telling him it’s WAY too soon to be marrying this man.

Jacob’s got all the gear and no idea

Jacob’s getting ready to race Kammy on dirt bikes to win Sarah’s heart, or something equally medieval. We’re unimpressed by it to be honest, but we were intrigued by Jacob suddenly having a dirt bike, and the jazzy outfit, and helmet to go with it.

Plus we’re curious about how Sam Dingle who mostly seems to spend his days killing animals with his bare hands, has the dirt-bike expertise to teach Jacob. It’s a mystery!

What is Charity doing exactly?

One thing we’ve been wondering this week is WHY Charity is so determined to get rid of Kammy?

He’s definitely a bit annoying, but he’s not nearly as annoying as Mack is and she married him. Apart from being gobby and a little cheeky, Kammy seems fine.

And Sarah’s definitely happy – as Chas pointed out. Plus, as Mackenzie wisely said, Sarah’s 19 years old. She can do what she wants.

So we’re not completely sure why Charity is so determined to break them up and force Sarah to get back with Jacob, who treated her like dirt about 10 minutes ago and broke her heart.

Perhaps next week someone equally unexpected will come up with some wise words about the situation. Baby Evan, perhaps. Or Piper the dog.
