Former Emmerdale stars Matthew Wolfenden and Roxy Shahidi announce new joint project after show exits
Exciting times ahead for the pair
Emmerdale stars Matthew Wolfenden and Roxy Shahidi have announced a new project working together for Series Two of their podcast.
Matthew left the ITV soap as David Metcalfe in 2023, while Roxy left more recently in 2025. The soap killed her character Leyla Harding off.
Now though, the pair are proving that their friendship is still strong after their Dales’ exits as they team up to record Series Two of their joint podcast. Exciting!

Emmerdale stars Matthew Wolfenden and Roxy Shahidi record podcast
It’s been about a year and a half since Matthew bowed out of Emmerdale as David, but he’s still kept in touch with soap star pal Roxy Shahidi.
With Roxy leaving the soap herself this year, the friends have now teamed up to released a second series of their podcast.
The pair have a podcast called Matt and Roxy’s Celebrity Side Hustles. They’ve now announced that Series Two is about to be released.
On the podcast, the former soap co-stars interview former colleagues and current friends and ask them to share their side hustles away from their main work.
Former interviewees include Danny Miller and Corrie star Brooke Vincent.
Now, Series Two is less than a week away from being released into the world. Eek!

Matthew Wolfenden and Roxy Shahidi’s life away from Emmerdale
After leaving Emmerdale, Matthew went on to star in the stage adaptation of Elf! the Musical, playing the role of Buddy the Elf.
His final scenes on Emmerdale aired near the time he and partner Charley Webb, who played Debbie Dingle on the soap, announced their split.
Roxy’s final scenes in the Dales aired earlier this year as Leyla sadly lost her life during a limo crash accident.
Now, Roxy’s focusing on her yoga business, having had a passion for this over many years.
With the pair now gearing up for the launch of Series Two of their podcast, will there be a Series Three on the cards?
