The teams met twice earlier this year in the UEFA Nations League, with Belgium nearly causing an upset in Valencia, only for the world champions to score twice in second-half stoppage time to claim a 3-2 win. The second meeting in Leuven was considerably more comfortable for Spain, as they romped to a 5-1 win. The Belgians have also conceded five away to England and France in 2025, and will need to produce some improved performances if they are to progress. Spain on the other hand were the pre-tournament favourites to win the whole thing, but they will be taking nothing for granted after their close escape in Valencia
