Portugal have never won this tournament, but narrowly lost to eventual champions England in the quarter-finals two years ago and were runners-up to Germany in 2021, so hopes will be high of another strong showing. However, they face a difficult opener against the French, who won the Under-17s Euros in 2022 and Olympic silver in 2024, and a number of players from both of those tournaments are in this squad.
