A gunslinger renounces violence after a man saves his life in a shoot-out. While looking for an honest job, he is moved by the plight of a sheriff trying to intercede in the conflict between small-time farmers and a cattle baron, and puts his skill with a pistol at the lawman's disposal to help prevent a range war.
