The Washington DC Open. Coverage of day two of the WTA 500 and ATP 500 event, a hard-court tournament held at William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in the USA. Americans McCartney Kessler and Caroline Dolehide were involved in the only match to require a third set in the opening round of the women's draw last year, and it was the latter who prevailed 7-6 5-7 6-3. Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter were the only British entrants and experienced contrasting fortunes, with Raducanu booking her place in round two with 7-6 6-4 win over Marta Kostyuk, while Boulter suffered an early exit after losing 3-6 4-6 to Maria Sakkari
