There has only ever been one previous meeting between these nations, a 2022 friendly match in Vienna that saw just 150 people in attendance as Canada claimed a 2-0 victory. There will doubtless be many more to witness tonight's clash in an arena that boasts a capacity in excess of 54,000, with the vast majority of those supporting the co-hosts. Both teams are yet to win a match in the World Cup finals, but they avoided defeat in their openers, with Canada drawing 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Qataris' match against Switzerland also ending 1-1.
