Single mother Siobhan Parkinson hosts the first dinner party of the week in Merseyside. Her guests are electrician Justin Sumner, hospitality assistant Lin Rearden, fitness instructor Jean-Jacques Silitto and student Ashley Burke, and she plans to win them over with a homely menu including chicken liver pate and slow-cooked lamb. Her efforts in the kitchen, however, are soon forgotten as insults start to fly with the arrival of her diners
