Scrum Queens: The Women Who Saved the World Cup
Scrum Queens: The Women Who Saved the World Cup
The story behind the founding of the first Women's Rugby World Cup in Cardiff in 1991, when rugby players Deborah Griffin, Sue Dorrington, Alice Cooper and Mary Forsyth acted on their vision for women to have their own global tournament in the sport by uniting the efforts of campaigners, communities and clubs across south Wales. This was as much about defying the odds to pull off the impossible as it was a fight for equality as they took on the sporting establishment and engrained misogyny to transform the sport they loved
Scrum Queens: The Women Who Saved the World Cup airs on BBC One Wales at 1:35 PM, Saturday 23 August. (Subtitles, repeat.)
