Czechia have only appeared at one previous World Cup finals since Czechoslovakia was dissolved in 1992, that being the 2006 tournament in Germany. They got off to a disappointing on their return to this stage when they were defeated 2-1 by South Korea in their opener. The Bafana Bafana also lost their first match, going down to nine men in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of co-hosts Mexico. They will now look to draw from their experience of having competed at a major tournament just six months ago at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where they progressed from a group that also contained Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe, before being eliminated by Cameroon in the last-16.
