The Canadian Open. Coverage from day two of the ATP 1000 event in Montreal and the WTA 1000 event in Toronto, both of which are hard-court tournaments. Today will see the conclusion of the first round in both competitions, with players hoping to avoid elimination at the first step. Jacob Fearnley was the only British male involved at this stage last year, and suffered an early exit following a 2-6 3-6 loss to Argentinean qualifier Juan Pablo Ficovich. There were mixed fortunes for British representation in the women's competition, with Emma Raducanu booking her place in round two with a 6-2 6-4 win over Elena-Gabriela Ruse, but Katie Boulter was knocked out at the first time of asking as she lost 1-6 5-7 to Renata Zarazúa
