Naturalist and explorer Steve Backshall and wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan reveal the hidden secrets of the Ice Age, using state of the art technology to bring this frozen world to life. In the first episode, the duo witness the rise of giant beasts such as the woolly mammoth and sabre-toothed tiger, revealing how they were perfectly adapted for this extreme environment, and what factors let to their extinction. Later, Michaela travels deep into the Arctic Circle to try and solve the puzzle of how and why the Ice Age started in the first place
