Hector Ó hEochagáin visits the Balkan nation and oldest country in Europe, Bulgaria. He begins his trip in Plovdiv, visiting one of the world's best-preserved ancient Roman theatres. Hector reflects on Bulgaria's communist history at Buzludja Monument and explores the natural treasure that is the Seven Rila Lakes. He finishes his trip of Bulgaria in a gym run by weightlifting champion Zdravko Stoichkov, where he watches athletes train and even tries out the sport for himself
