The MGM+ show is set on the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. When a body is discovered, detectives from either side of the divide working together to solve the case.
The gritty drama arrives on ITV and to ITVX this October, starring Amy De Bhrún and Eoin Macken in the leading roles.

What is crime drama Borderline about?
Borderline is a drama with a similar premise to The Bridge, and The Tunnel – in which two detectives from different countries must work together to solve a crime.
The synopsis says: “Forced to collaborate on a serious crime, contrasting detectives Philip Boyd and Aoife Regan overcome initial friction to form an unlikely but formidable crime-fighting partnership.”
Of course, it’s not easy with their clashing personalities and backgrounds.
When a woman’s body is found on a beach in Northern Ireland, Philip Boyd is called upon to investigate. And he must work alongside Detective Regan from the Republic of Ireland. Initial findings suggest the victim may have been murdered in the Republic and drifted across the border.
Straitlaced Detective Inspector Philip Boyd of North Ireland finds himself working alongside his foul-mouthed Republic of Ireland counterpart, detective inspector Aoife Regan. And although neither are happy about the partnership, the two must put their personal and professional differences aside to solve the brutal cases of victims along the border.
When is the start date?
Borderline will launch on Friday, October 03, 2025 at 9pm on ITV, and as a boxset on ITVX.
Viewers will be able to binge all six episodes in one go on ITVX. Or you can watch weekly on Friday nights.

Who’s in the cast?
The crime drama Borderline stars Eoin Macken as Detective Inspector Philip Boyd. Eoin is an Irish actor, director, and model. In 2008, he rose to fame playing Gavin Cluxton in Fair City, before winning the role of Sir Gwaine in Merlin. TV viewers will also known him for portraying Dr TC Callahan in The Night Shift, Karl D’Branin in Nightflyers, and Gavin Harris in La Brea. More recently, 42-year-old Eoin starred as Davis Collins in Texas-based Ransom Canyon.
Dublin-born Amy De Bhrún, 41, plays Detective Inspector Aoife Regan. She’s perhaps best known for playing Abigail Whithall in Sanctuary, or Niamh Furlong in Blackshore. She recently starred opposite Cillian Murphy in the film Small Things Like These. Line of Duty fans might remember her as Steph Corbett.

Reviews of crime drama Borderline
Viewers have praised the drama, with one IMDB reviewer calling it a “great new unusual detective series”. They continued: “There were lots of great unexpected twists in this new series. Every two episodes there is a new murder to solve with the same two detectives continuously throughout.
“Set in the beautiful backdrop of Irish countryside on the boarder between Northern and Southern Ireland, the show is both entertaining, gripping and eye opening towards the conflicts and dynamics between the North and South.”
Another agreed that it was a “well written drama”. They added:”It’s a million miles better than many of the things we have seen on the main channels.”
On Rotten Tomatoes, another viewer said: “Borderline is an amazing crime drama, and I hope they keep making more seasons. It is so different to other shows.”
