There are some very questionable fashion choices going on in Emmerdale right now, and they need to be discussed.

The biggest offender has got to be love cheat Dawn Fletcher and those hoodies that she insists on wearing, day after day, after day. But Dawn isn’t the only local who’s completely stuck in a style rut or has an item of apparel that gives us the ick.

Here’s a rundown of all the looks we’re just not loving. Do you agree with our picks? And who would you add to your list?

Emmerdale fashion fails: Cain Dingle’s leather jacket

Let’s start by saying we don’t totally hate that leather jacket of Cain Dingle‘s. It’s a classic cut and the hunky mechanic wears it well. The problem is that it’s seen better days.

The jacket has lived through a lot of action. It’s seen numerous punch ups and pucker ups and Cain was wearing it the first time he and Moira, you know…

But all good things must come to an end and we think it’s time Cain invested in a new one.

Bob Hope’s camo coat

The award for the most hideous coat in the village goes to Bob Hope. What on earth is this camouflage monstrosity? And are those actual leaves sewn onto its sleeve?

Unless Bob has taken up fishing we can’t really understand what possessed him to buy it. Was it a purchase made by Cathy in an attempt make her dad look more hip? If so, then she failed.

He might be the funniest guy in the Dales, but that silly jacket is no laughing matter.

Dawn’s wardrobe is even making us depressed (Credit: ITV)

Emmerdale fashion fails: Dawn’s disgusting hoodies

We could write a whole essay on Dawn’s depressing clobber. For someone who’s only 30, she looks like she’s given up on life.

Joe’s lover spends most of her days hiding away under the same baggy hoodie, which must stink because it never sees the wash. On the rare occasion when she does decide to change, Dawn picks up an equally unappealing sloppy sweatshirt or that truly awful cardigan that ties round the waist. Yes, you know the one. Even her attempts at smart workwear somehow look scruffy.

We think Emmerdale are doing Dawn dirty (literally) with these drab clothes. Please give this girl a makeover, otherwise PC Swirling will have no other choice but to arrest her for crimes against fashion.

Chas’s cardigan collection

Now there’s nothing wrong with a cardigan, they’re a classic wardrobe staple. But they’re all Chas Dingle ever seems to wear.

The Woolpack manager favours a long waterfall style, which she dresses up or down depending on the occasion. However, we’re just getting a bit sick of the sight of them.

These cardis are way too mumsy for someone so sassy. It’s time Chas cast them aside in favour of something more fun.

Emmerdale fashion fails: Ross Barton’s bling

Ross Barton is turning into Emmerdale’s answer to Mr T with his heavy gold chain and sovereign ring. We pity the fool who’s on the receiving end of his next violent outburst because being smacked by that thing would hurt.

The Barton bad boy’s style is definitely more street gangster these days, but we’re not sure it’s a look that suits him. Ditch the chavvy bling, mate!

Laurel’s wearing a blanket

Is it a blanket? Is it a shawl? Or perhaps a poncho? Who knows what this interesting item of clothing is.

Laurel has always loved a natty knit, but this one doesn’t work for us. It also bears an uncanny resemblance to the throw that’s been hanging over the Dingles’ sofa for the last two decades. Has Laurel been inspired on one of her trips to Wishing Well to create a similar look in her wardrobe?

Charles talks to Manpreet in the street on Emmerdale

Emmerdale fashion fails: Charles and his beanie hat

We know it’s cold up in the Yorkshire Dales, but does Rev Charles Anderson really have to keep on wearing that blinking beanie hat? Not only is it really unflattering, it doesn’t even cover the vicar’s ears. Isn’t that kind of defeating the purpose of a wooly warmer?

Resourceful Claudette looks like the kind of woman who would be a pro with a pair of knitting needles. Maybe she can make her son a new one that’s more to size.

Aaron glares at Mack on Emmerdale

Aaron in all black

When it comes to clothes Aaron Dingle knows what he likes. And that’s black, black and erm more black. Seriously the mechanic’s fashion taste is as miserable as he is.

It would make a refreshing change to see Aaron experimenting with a few other colours. We’re not talking neon bright or florals shirts (Aaron’s just not that guy), but what about a nice navy or khaki? Perhaps John could take his boyfriend on a shopping spree and inject a little variety into his sombre wardrobe.

And now for someone who gets it right…

Ruby is rocking it

Ruby Fox-Miligan is on point with her outfits and adds a touch of much-needed glamour to the Dales. Despite the chaos and drama in her life, Ruby somehow always manages to look put together.

Being wealthy definitely has its advantages. It means Rubes can afford to invest in her wardrobe, and she’s got some great pieces in there. From silk blouses to cashmere jumpers, leather trousers to killer heels. And she’s got a gorgeous coat collection too.

Yep, we’ve definitely found our Emmerdale style icon here.
