As Graham Foster reminds her tonight (Wednesday January 28), she’s no longer in touch with Jamie. So how did the boy who was once the apple of Kim’s eye try to kill her, fake his own death and cut her out of his life completely? What happened to Jamie Tate in Emmerdale? Frank and Kim were Jamie’s parents (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) Jamie Tate’s parents in Emmerdale Jamie Tate in Emmerdale is the son of manipulative soap queen Kim Tate and her husband Frank. When he was born, there was doubt over who his dad was, because Kim had an affair with Dave Glover. Kim really loved Dave and after his tragic death she struggled to bond with her baby. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers Frank then had a DNA test and discovered he was Jamie’s real dad. It caused Kim to become even more distant. Kim’s marriage to Frank was toxic and when Kim wanted out. So she faked her own death and fled to Mauritius. She left little Jamie with her dad, and framed Frank for murder. Typical Kim! But when Frank was released she had a change of heart, and offered to clear his name in exchange for custody of her son. There was a violent confrontation but Frank collapsed and died, and Kim took Jamie back. She eventually left Emmerdale for good with Jamie. Jamie was devoted to Millie (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) Jamie returns to the village without Kim but with a wife and daughter In April 2019, Jamie arrived in Emmerdale. He caused chaos immediately crashing into Megan Macey and mowing down Eric Pollard. We discovered Jamie and his mum were estranged. They had lost touch and Jamie had married Andrea and had a daughter, Millie. Kim was stunned to discover her son had a family of his own and it wasn’t long before she and Andrea clashed. It was soon revealed Graham had paid Andrea to look out for Jamie while Kim was in prison. But when Andrea revealed she and Graham had slept together it meant her marriage falling apart. It also put Jamie in the frame for Graham’s murder in January 2020. Which was later revealed to be committed by Pierce Harris. And then even later, in 2026, revealed to have been a set up and Graham wasn’t dead at all. Fortunately Jamie had an alibi anyway: he had been sleeping with Belle Dingle when Graham was supposedly killed. Jamie and Belle were in love – at first (Credit: ITV) Affair with Belle Dingle Jamie and Belle were an item for a while, and it seemed like the real deal. But Jamie had knocked over Moira Dingle and left her for dead. He and Kim covered up the accident. When the Dingles found out the truth about who was to blame, it looked like Belle had sided with her boyfriend over her family. But instead she tricked him into revealing where the evidence of his crime was and shopped him to the police. But Jamie’s a Tate through and through and managed to make it look as though Belle was to blame. Just as she was facing a prison sentence, her nephew Nate Robinson stepped in and took the blame. But the stress of Jamie’s revenge took its toll on poor Belle, who stills bears a grudge against her ex (and who can blame her?!). Jamie wasn’t happy when Gabby told him she was pregnant (Credit: ITV) Gabby Thomas has his baby After a one-night stand with Jamie, Gabby Thomas found out she was expecting his baby. Jamie immediately told her to terminate her pregnancy. Jamie soon realised if he was nice to Gabby she would play ball. But she realised what he was playing at and continued the pregnancy. Gabby gave birth to his son, Thomas, in October 2021. However Thomas has never met his biological father as Jamie fled and faked his death. Jamie loved Dawn, but she couldn’t forgive him (Credit: ITV/Shutterstock) Jamie Tate also had a thing with Dawn Taylor in Emmerdale Despite batting away Gabby, Jamie found himself falling for Dawn Taylor. Gabby’s pregnancy put a spanner in the works and then Kim got involved. Kim threatened Dawn to stay away from Jamie. Evil Kim even spiked Dawn’s drink so she wouldn’t be in a fit state to meet her son’s social worker. The plan didn’t work, but when Dawn told Jamie what his mum had done he was furious. Dawn and Jamie eventually split when he tried to frame her dad, Will Taylor, for poisoning his mum. In fact, Jamie was behind the whole thing… Jamie tried to kill his mum (Credit: ITV) Jamie tries to kill Kim Tate in Emmerdale Fed up of his mum’s manipulating and meddling, Jamie began to poison Kim’s brandy decanter. Kim quickly worked out what was going on and decided to teach him a lesson – by faking her own death, again! Jamie got a shock when he found out she wasn’t actually dead. However the knife was about to be twisted further when she disowned and disinherited him. Dawn also finished with him and Jamie was left with nothing. But he is a Tate and he wanted Kim’s money. So he decided to elope with Gabby so the baby would get the money and therefore he’d also have access to it. But Jamie got cold feet and instead begged Dawn to run away with him. Emmerdale Jamie Tate drove into a lake (Credit: ITV) Is Jamie Tate dead in Emmerdale? Dawn refused, but determined not to be tied down by Gabby or to be at his mother’s mercy any more, Jamie decided to leave anyway. He drove his car recklessly out of town and accidentally drove off a cliff edge into a lake. The car was found, but no body. Everyone, except Kim believed he was dead. When Jamie’s ex-wife Andrea then died, Kim organised a memorial, convinced Jamie would show up to support little Millie. However when he didn’t she accepted he was dead and has tried to move on with her life. But, lo and behold, Kim had been right all along: Jamie had faked his own death and was holed up with Andrea’s mum, Hazel. There are no plans for Jamie to return (Credit: ITV) Is Jamie Tate returning to Emmerdale? When it was revealed Jamie was still alive, Emmerdale insisted there were “no plans” for him to comeback to the show. Kim and Gabby have since discovered the truth about Jamie being alive, with Gabby terrified he would return to take Thomas away from her. However, things went badly wrong for Jamie when he pushed Hazel down the stairs. He fled the country and Hazel told Kim the truth about everything. Kim reported him for attempted murder and burned letters he had written to his children. Jamie has not been in touch with Kim since. Joe Tate did reveal he had stayed with Jamie and they had become like brothers. Kim has spoken about hopefully reconciling with Jamie one day and Joe has even offered to talk to his uncle on her behalf.
