What happened in Emmerdale Thursday, March 27: Caleb’s life was in danger and Steph struggled with her identity
Will Caleb survive?
In Emmerdale, Joe took an injured Caleb to Dr Crowley, who had his work cut out to save his life and extract a kidney.
Elsewhere, Nicola tried to take Brenda’s round the world cruise and there was an important Jaffa Cake debate.
Here’s a full recap of what happened in Emmerdale on Thursday, March 27.

Caleb’s life was on the line in Emmerdale
Dr Crowley was eager to get the kidney transplant operation done, and informed Joe that to do that he’d obviously need the kidney donor and recipient.
Joe told Dr Crowley it was all in hand – by all in hand he meant he’d arranged for Shaun to stab Caleb Miligan. Arriving on the scene, Joe put Caleb in his car and drove to the private clinic.
Crowley was furious, and said Caleb was supposed to be drugged. He remarked that he wanted him “unconscious, not half butchered”!
Dr Crowley was worried for Caleb’s life, while Joe was more calm as he told the doctor, “at this point, it’s him or me.”
The doctor had second thoughts about performing the operation, saying Caleb needed to go to A&E as he was struggling to keep him stable let alone put him under anaesthetic and remove a kidney.
When Crowley informed Joe that he didn’t want Caleb’s death on his hands, Joe retorted, “what about mine?”. After offering him more money, Crowley agreed to go ahead. But just as he told Joe to get ready, the machine started to beep and Caleb flatlined. Can he be saved?

Steph struggled with her identity
John found Steph Miligan standing atop the bridge. She admitted to him that she can’t stop seeing Anthony. “You might have dug his grave, but he’s still here,” she told him.
He took Steph back to his, where he tried to help her, but his breathing exercises didn’t have the desired effect. Just give her a glass of wine, John.
Steph admitted that she felt guilty for feeling sad, saying “It wasn’t me who he raped. It wasn’t me who had to live with it all these years.”
Later, Steph returned home with a vinyl John had given her – Real Gone Kid by Deacon Blue. It was one her and Caleb used to dance to.
Ruby, Caleb and Steph had been planning a trip to the coast, but Caleb was obviously otherwise occupied. Steph said Caleb was purposely keeping his distance.
“He’s trying to convince himself that nothing’s changed, but I can see it in his eyes and can you blame him? How can anyone love me knowing what I am?”
Ruby told Steph, “you’re our daughter,” with Steph responding, “yeah and I’m also your sister.” Ruby did her best to reassure Steph that she was loved.
They then put the record on and happily danced around the kitchen, unaware that at that moment Caleb was flatlining on an operating table.

Dawn continued to be thick
When Kim revealed that Joe had gone to Chicago, Dawn was shocked. She insisted that Joe loved her and he wouldn’t have gone without telling her first.
A desperate Dawn kept calling Joe, and told Kim that Joe would definitely call her back. Kim did not believe that for a minute and may as well have patronisingly patted Dawn on the head.
Later, Kim told Dawn there is something she needed to see. She showed her Joe’s room, which had been cleared out, implying he wasn’t planning on coming back.
Dopey Dawn still wasn’t having it and called Joe yet again. This time she left a message saying she felt like a fool. Well, if the cap fits…

Joe got one over on Ross in Emmerdale
Ross returned to the village and informed Charity that his brother Pete was now fine and had discharged himself. Charity tried to brighten his mood further by telling him that Joe had buggered off to Chicago.
Ross wasn’t so sure though and checked his phone. He told Charity he’d been tracking Joe since he left for Liverpool years ago – clearly playing the long game.
According to the tracking app, Joe was still local, but had been on the move all day. Wanting to know what Joe was up to, Ross and Charity legged it to the car and followed the tracker. They obviously forgot that they were supposed to pick Moses up “soon”.
While it initially looked like Ross and Charity might stumble upon the private hospital, it soon became clear that Joe wasn’t an idiot. He’d actually been paying Sam Dingle to take his car to be valeted and, you guessed it, the tracker was in that car.

Marlon lied to April
April was sad about the no contact rule from Dylan. Unbeknownst to her, Dylan had written her a letter where he said he’d changed his mind about not wanting visitors.
However, Marlon hid the letter from April. Paddy immediately cottoned on to the reason, Marlon was just worried that Dylan would tell tell April the truth about the stolen ketamine.
Paddy continued to sneak up on Marlon all day, demanding he tell April about the letter.
However, in the pub when Marlon said he had to tell April something, she immediately jumped in with, “I know it was a meat free burger.” And then she was gone before Marlon could share the letter.

Nicola was shameless
Nicola stumbled upon Brenda’s name in a magazine – congratulating “Brenda Walker of Emmerdale” for winning a 3 month round the world cruise.
Brenda immediately called the magazine up to see if she could still claim the prize as the magazine was a little old. Although they told her the prize was still hers, she confided in Nicola that she couldn’t go as she didn’t want to go alone, and also she needed to stay and keep an eye on Eric.
Nicola, thinking only of herself as usual, called the magazine back. She pretended to be Brenda and told them that the prize would be used by Nicola and Jimmy instead as she couldn’t go.
Jimmy was reluctant, saying they had kids to think about. Later, when he spoke to Eric, he spotted that there were still feelings between Brenda and Eric and said he and Nicola should back off the cruise.
Nicola wasn’t having it though, and was determined that they were having this three month holiday.
Elsewhere in Emmerdale
We discovered whether Marlon and Paddy think a Jaffa Cake is a biscuit or a cake.
As Paddy hunted around the kitchen for “biscuits”, he told Marlon he was looking for Jaffa Cake.
Marlon immediately got defensive, and informed his friend, “Firstly, not biscuits, but let’s not go there again.” Paddy responded, “Yeah, because you know I’m right.”
Who is right, Paddy or Marlon?
