Steph and Caleb in Emmerdale

In Emmerdale on Wednesday, 30 April, Caleb and Ruby discovered that Steph was planning on having a nose job, but managed to stop her just in time.

Elsewhere, John’s new found popularity was in full force as he managed to talk down Tracy about Nate Robinson.

Here’s a full run down of what happened in Emmerdale on Wednesday.

Steph’s nose job plan was thwarted… for now

On Caleb’s birthday, Steph Miligan acted the doting daughter and handed him a watch she’d had engraved with “world’s greatest dad”.

However, when Ruby tried to take a photo of the three of them, Steph refused and insisted she had to get going to the airport for her flight to Capri.

However, Steph was really going to a clinic for rhinoplasty surgery. When Caleb and Ruby couldn’t find the flight she had claimed to be getting on, they used her laptop to access her emails and discovered the horrifying truth.

At the clinic, as the surgeon was talking Steph through the possible side effects, Caleb and Ruby burst in. Ruby told her daughter that Anthony haunts her everyday too but surgery is not the answer.

Steph was determined to go ahead with the surgery, so Caleb decided to tell the surgeon the truth about Steph’s parentage and the reason for her wanting surgery. “She is acting out of trauma,” he said.

The surgeon then said that going ahead with the operation after what he had heard would be unethical, leaving Steph furious.

Steph later told her parents they couldn’t stop her getting another appointment, and she then went to make a phone call where she asked if she could bring her brow lift appointment forward.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Caleb were at a loss over what to do. Ruby wanted to get a counsellor for Steph, but Caleb was worried incase she spills the beans on Anthony’s death. Will they find a way to get through to their daughter?

John comforted Tracy over Nate

Liam was anxious about going back to work, so John told him that he would be safe “as long as I’m here”. Reassuring…

At work, while Liam was occupied with a patient, John saw to Tracy – who was in need of a new prescription for Frankie.

Sensing that Tracy was upset, John took her into a separate room and listened to her woes. As she insisted she couldn’t keep lying to Frankie over Nate, she came to the solution that she should go to Shetland and demand Nate “gives Frankie the support she deserves.”

With John not wanting his killer secret exposed, he called Nate a rat and insisted Tracy could do better. He suggested she could benefit from counselling (the counsellor is getting a lot of work today!). When John later told Liam his suggestion for Tracy, Liam was happy for John to handle it.

With hero John ecstatic to be given more responsibility, he gave Victoria some money to buy a bottle of plonk and encouraged her to go see Tracy and reassure her that she is a good mum.

Victoria did just this, with Tracy moved by John’s kindness. When Victoria left, Tracy picked up the mail and found a letter addressed to Nate. It was a new credit card. With money worries at the front of Tracy’s mind, will she use it?

Sarah in Emmerdale

Sarah was determined to have a baby

Catching up with Vanessa in the shop, Sarah told her she had rung around some clinics about IVF. But when Charity suddenly interrupted, Sarah lied that she was asking Vanessa’s advice about getting a dog.

Later in the pub, Vanessa tried to encourage Sarah to speak to her grandmother about her plans to have a baby, but Sarah was reluctant to tell Charity until she had discovered if she was eligible for IVF.

When Charity interrupted their chat again, she inadvertently upset Sarah. Thinking that Sarah was still considering getting a dog, Charity told her granddaughter that she wasn’t “the nurturing type”.

“You can barely keep a cactus alive, let alone anything living or breathing,” Charity told Sarah. With Sarah responding that she might be more responsible now.

Charity replied: “Or maybe you’re still young and selfish?” This caused Sarah to get upset that Charity had written her off.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for Sarah to have some counselling before making a decision…
