9 huge Corriedale scenes that have left us completely confused

We need the next episodes of the soaps right now

Corriedale aired tonight (Monday, January 5) and while the dramatic crossover delivered plenty of jaw-dropping moments, it also left us with more than a few questions.

By the time the hour-long episode wrapped up, we were staring at the screen trying to piece together exactly what we’d just witnessed.

Nothing gets past us here, so these are nine things from the Corriedale chaos that we’re still desperate to understand.

1. Carla’s condition

Considering Carla Connor had supposedly spent an entire week tied up, barely able to move, before being shoved into a shipping container with limited food and water, she seemed remarkably sprightly.

She was speaking in full sentences, standing up, and even helping pull people from cars. Love can apparently work miracles, but this did stretch believability just a little too far.

2. Lisa arresting Becky

Lisa, Becky and Betsy were involved in one of the first crashes, with Lisa left unconscious for much of the episode. Others had to physically move the car away from a growing fire while she remained slumped inside.

Then, after being carried into an ambulance, Lisa suddenly woke up, produced a pair of handcuffs and arrested Becky – perfectly reciting the arrest script too. How she even held onto those cuffs during the crash is anyone’s guess.

3. Steve just ignoring Tracy

For a large chunk of the episode, Tracy Barlow’s fate was left hanging in the balance. Thankfully she survived, but Steve McDonald didn’t even check on her.

Instead, he went straight to Cassie, leaving his ex-wife – and the mother of his daughter – to climb out of the minibus on her own. Ouch.

4. Only two people dying

Given the scale of the pile-up, the death toll was surprisingly low. Only Billy Mayhew lost his life as a direct result of the crash.

John Sugden also died, but his brutal end happened out in the woods and at Victoria’s hands. Iconic, yes – but still separate from the accident.

After Emmerdale’s limo crash last year claimed three lives with far fewer vehicles involved, we expected more tragedy. Weatherfield and the Dales got off lightly this time.

5. Where were the other cars?

Every single car involved just happened to be driven by a familiar face. Somehow, there were no random motorists on the road at all.

Even when characters like Liam and Chas arrived later, they were able to get right up close with no traffic jams in sight. It’s a stretch, to say the least.

6. Aaron being in the car with John

Aaron Dingle’s decision-making was… questionable. Jumping into a car with John Sugden – a known killer – was never going to end well.

John had already proven he was willing to die alongside Aaron if it meant being together forever. So what exactly did Aaron expect by pointing a gun at him the entire journey? A sudden moral awakening? This is John Sugden.

7. Graham being alive

One of the biggest shocks of the night was the reveal that Graham Foster is somehow alive – and driving a van with a woman tied up inside.

He even visited Joe in hospital without being recognised. Sorry, what? Graham was one of soap’s most definitively dead characters, and yet here he is, revived without explanation. We loved him, but this resurrection makes very little sense.

8. Who was that woman?

Which brings us neatly to the mystery woman Graham had captive. She’s definitely someone new, and she was clearly terrified, desperately trying to escape him.

There’s clearly more to this story, and we need answers.

9. One hour was not enough

Controversial maybe, but one hour of Corriedale simply wasn’t enough. We loved every chaotic minute and wanted more.

There’s no way these characters can just go back to never interacting again. Too many threads are still hanging.

What did Kit do when he found John dead? What about David and Shona still being treated at Hotten General – surely they’d cross paths with more Emmerdale residents? Please, ITV, give us more.
