John and Mack in Emmerdale

John has been a mysterious character since arriving in Emmerdale last year, but as his lies mount up, fans insist there is one way he can turn his fate around.

This week, Aaron discovered the truth about Aidan Moore – that not only is he alive, but that he was also John’s former fiancé.

As people turn on John Sugden, fans insist he can redeem himself if he kills a particular hated character.

John identifies his next target

Eager to throw a decent stag do in the run up to Aaron and John’s wedding, Victoria took it upon herself to track down some of John’s former army mates. But in doing so, she untangled a whole web of lies.

Meeting up with John’s former army pal Connor, she discovered that John had not been honest about Aidan. She learnt that, despite John having spoken about Aidan’s funeral, Aidan was not dead at all. He’s in a coma in hospital.

Later on, Mackenzie Boyd came across Connor and he too discovered the truth. He quickly went running to his BFF Aaron to gleefully share this latest development.

John of course was furious at Mack’s meddling and in Thursday’s episode he outlined plans to get revenge on Mack.

Standing at Aidan’s hospital bedside, John said: “You just had to stay alive, didn’t you? There isn’t a moment of any day I don’t wish you were dead. You know, right now, someone else needs putting out of their misery. That’ll be my friend Mack. He’s gonna find out what happens when people push me that little bit too hard.”

Fans eager for John to kill Mack in Emmerdale

While John hasn’t proved himself to be very popular thus far, fans have promised to do a U-turn if he does indeed bump off Mack.

One fan wrote on X: “John Sugden we’ll love you forever if you get rid of Mack.”

A second viewer said: “I have found John Sugden to be one of THE dullest baddies in soap history (no wonder, given his lineage!) BUT if he kills off the absolutely pointless Mack then I will laud him as the best Soap Baddie that ever lived.”

A third fan agreed, writing: “The demise of Mack I can’t wait for this, John Sugden we stan you bb.”

“If John‘s not going to kill Victoria. Let’s hope he does Mack,” wrote a fourth fan. While a fifth viewer added: “Mack is hopefully right at the top of John‘s kill list!”

Another fan referenced the flashforward clip, which showed Mack running from something or someone, as they wrote: “Manifesting that John’s the one chasing Mack in that flash forward and ends up killing him.”

Does Mack need to watch his back?
