A new Emmerdale fan theory has suggested that heartbroken Vanessa Woodfield might try to take her own life in the lake where Suzy died – and find Nate while she’s down there.

As if grieving the loss of her late love wasn’t enough, Vanessa has had to contend with the revelation that Suzy wasn’t who she thought she was – and nor was her relationship as solid as she’s assumed.

For this week’s episodes of the soap saw Vanessa learn that Suzy had been cheating on her (emotionally, at least) by kissing another woman. As she went through Suzy’s phone (which, for some reason, Suzy didn’t take to the bottom of the lake with her), she discovered texts from Leyla about her other woman.

Devastated Vanessa was determined to find out who Suzy had been seeing behind her back. And, after a meeting with Rhona turned up some damning evidence last night (Thursday, March 13) Vanessa realised who it had been – Mary.

Heading over to the Woolpack, Vanessa confronted Mary, flinging a drink in her face. And, as the episode ended, she remained in a state of betrayal and devastation.

But what’s next, now the truth is out in the open?

Dark new fan  theory predicts Vanessa will find Nate as she attempts to take her own life

Writing on X as last night’s episode aired, one fan put forward a particularly dark theory – wondering whether a heartbroken Vanessa might head down a darker path, and one which would take her back to that fateful lake.

“Maybe boring Vanessa will try to off herself in the water where Suzy died. She’s sinking and sees Nate,” this fan said.

The lake, of course, being the final (?) resting place of Nate, who died under mysterious circumstances last year. Will Vanessa stumble across Nate’s body while set upon a terrible course of her own?
