Corriedale was well and truly delivering surprises tonight, as Graham Foster is back, six years after his Emmerdale death.

Andrew Scarborough played the iconic character between 2017 and 2020, before Graham died at the hands of Rhona’s ex husband and rapist Pierce. Or so it seemed.

Since then, everyone believed Graham was well and truly dead, and even spent some time mourning him. But in a shock twist, it looks like that was never really the case.

Graham Foster Corriedale return

In tonight’s (Monday January 5) historic one-night-only crossover between Emmerdale and Coronation Street, there was a mystery man with an unknown woman tied up in his van.

During the crash, his van got caught up in the aftermath. But it wasn’t until Joe Tate arrived at the scene when the man got out of his vehicle.

Joe had been dragged along by Robert, who was looking for Aaron, as he was concerned John would kill him. But it seems there was a reason the Emmerdale writers needed to have Joe there.

An explosion took place, and Joe fell back and hit his head. And when he woke up, he clearly saw something he couldn’t explain. Coronation Street character, Kit Green, asked Joe if he was okay, and in a daze, Joe admitted he must have banged his head.

By the time the mystery man got back to his van, he discovered the woman he had tied up was gone. And he wasn’t happy about it.

However, he seemed to be more concerned with making sure Joe was okay. As he was next seen at the hospital watching Joe’s room. And that’s when we finally got to see his face. The one and only, Graham Foster.

Graham made a phone call, explaining to someone that he has something else he needs to do, and that the woman got away. So, while we don’t know anything about her, we think it’s pretty clear that Graham means he needs to keep an eye on Joe.

What does this mean for his Emmerdale future?

There are quite a lot of questions after the shock reveal, especially as there was a literal murder investigation into Graham’s Emmerdale death.

But, it’s not like the soap hasn’t brought people back from the dead before. They’ve even done it with characters associated with Graham, like Kim and Joe Tate. So, in a way it makes him more of a Tate than ever.

We have absolutely no idea how Graham has faked his death. But we’re sure however he did it, he must have worked very hard to do so.

One thing is for sure, if Graham decides he wants to get back into Joe’s life, Joe will obviously want that too. The pair were inseparable, and gave off an iconic father-son vibe. And not to mention, now that Kim Tate is single again, could we see the three of them rule Home Farm together?

With all the questions, one thing is for sure, there are some huge and iconic scenes awaiting us. And 2026 looks set to be an amazing year for Emmerdale.

We already can’t wait to see more of Graham in Emmerdale. Bring it on!
