After their confession last night (Tuesday March 17), things aren’t looking good for Paddy and Dylan in Emmerdale. But tonight an unlikely ally steps up in order to help them.

In today’s episode (Wednesday March 18) Mandy and Aaron set out to find a witness who could tell the police Ray was going to kill Dylan. But after Laurel refuses to help, someone else steps forward. Is it too risky though?

Paddy, Bear and Dylan in it up to their necks in Emmerdale

The story so far this week has left Paddy, Dylan and Bear in a huge mess. DS Walsh brought Bear back in for questioning and pushed him so hard with her leading questions that he blurted out a deliberate lie to get her off his back.

Bear shouted that he did intend to kill Ray and he would do it all over again.

It has left him in quite the predicament, given that he had originally pleaded self-defence. The CPS upped the charge from manslaughter to murder and there seemed no way out.

So Paddy and Dylan made the difficult decision to confess what really happened – including their part in the cover-up. DS Walsh charged them with perverting the course of justice and warned they were in big trouble.

Aaron and Mandy need a witness

Tonight the family are told that things are not looking good. The maximum sentence for perverting the course of justice is life. Bear has already admitted to killing Ray deliberately, which makes things complicated. As Paddy and Dylan are the only witnesses and they’ve already lied, there isn’t much hope.

Solicitor Zara advises they need a witness who can say in court Ray intended to kill Dylan. Then the case could fall apart and they could all be freed.

Aaron and Mandy are left thoughtful and team up to find someone to lie for them. They soon hit on the idea of Laurel, who was the last to see Ray alive and has offered to help in any way she can.

Laurel refuses to help Paddy in Emmerdale, but someone else steps up

Mandy and Aaron ask Laurel to tell the police she knew Ray was going to kill Dylan. But Laurel insists that isn’t true and she says she won’t lie as she has children to think about.

Realising she won’t give in, Mandy and Aaron leave. But Arthur overhears everything and says he can’t believe Laurel isn’t going to help.

He later finds Mandy and Aaron and offers to lie to the police for them. Aaron worries it’s too risky, but Mandy is adamant it is their only hope and they should accept.

Will this help? Or is stroppy teen Arthur a liability who can’t be trusted?

And just why is Arthur doing this? Is he being genuine and wanting to help? Or is there an ulterior motive to his offer? Could more lies just make this whole thing worse?
