Billy and Dawn Fletcher broke the news of their divorce to the children in Emmerdale (Wednesday, April 23), as he left Home Farm for good. Feeling remorseful over his outburst yesterday, Billy took the hint and hit the road.

Elsewhere, John’s plans to tell Aaron the truth about Aidan Moore went awry after Mack had a run-in with Connor, and got there before he could. And, as Jacob and Kammy continued to fight over Sarah, she laid down the law.

Meanwhile, a fretful Vinny shared his worries with Mandy, telling her how worried he was that he might take after his abusive dad.

Here’s everything that happened in Emmerdale.

Billy and Dawn told the kids about their divorce in Emmerdale

In the cafe, Billy was full of regret over his recent actions. Realising he’d gotten the wrong end of the stick, he opened up to (a surprisingly sympathetic) Ross about how bad he felt that Clemmie had witnessed their scuffle.

Taking a seat, Ross shared his own advice, telling Billy that he needed to step up for his kids and be honest. And later, at Home Farm, Billy did just that. Apologising for his behaviour, he reassured Dawn that he knew she’d never really have an affair with anyone. Awkward.

As the kids arrived home, the parents put on a united front. Billy took culpability for yesterday’s outburst – joining Dawn as they broke the news of their divorce. To their credit, Clemmie and Lucas took it in their stride.

Packing the kids off for cookies and milk, a sympathetic Kim bade farewell to Billy. Dismayed to learn of his plans of sofa surfing, she offered up the holiday cottage as free temporary accommodation.

Bidding Dawn a tearful farewell, Billy made his exit, leaving her sobbing and full of guilt.

John promised to tell Aaron the truth

Still stewing over Victoria’s ultimatum, John was hard at work, scrubbing the back of his van (not a bad idea, given how much DNA from various dead bodies must be all over the thing by now). Bringing him out a cuppa, Aaron revealed he’d been talking in his sleep again. Guilty conscience, John?

As John palmed Aaron off with excuses, a text came through from Victoria, asking to talk. Meeting her in the cafe, he shared that he hadn’t told Aaron about Aidan yet. More excuses followed, but Victoria was having none of it.

Later, Victoria bumped into John on the way back from a coffee run. In better spirits, he told her that he’d taken what she said on board, and planned on sharing everything with Aaron later. But is later too late?

Connor dropped John in it

Connor swung by The Hide, looking for Victoria. This caught the ear of Mack, who offered to pass on a message. Having enjoyed their getting-to-know-you date yesterday, Connor was interested in meeting Victoria for another drink.

And, as they talked, Connor mentioned that he was a mate of John’s – piquing Mack’s interest. As Aaron’s best man, he prodded him for a few deep, dark secrets.

Having learned a whole lot more than he’d bargained for, Mack dropped by to see Aaron in the wake of his conversation with Connor. Turns out, the truth about Aidan had come out – ‘he’s some kind of Walter Mitty,’ in Mack’s words.

John returned home to find Mack already there, taking delivery of two pizzas. Telling John that Aaron wanted nothing to do with him, Mack revealed that they’d found out about Aidan – sending a flabbergasted John packing.

But will he take the hint?

Kammy and Jacob clashed over Sarah… again

Heading downstairs after oversleeping, Charity was appalled to find Kammy on the sofa with Sarah… having stayed the night.

She continued to fume about Kammy in the pub, where she stormed over to give him some more of the protective grandma treatment. Kammy insisted he’d always be there for Sarah, but Charity was having none of it. She was worried for Sarah’s future, and felt that it lay with future doctor Jacob.

Elsewhere, Sarah caught up with Jacob. Apologising for the mix-up with Kammy’s car last week, he revealed that he still cared for her… accidentally dropping Kammy in it by mentioning the race.

Fuming, Sarah confronted Kammy. She was appalled to learn that the boys were racing on her behalf, and demanded they call the whole thing off. However, her harsh words only had the opposite effect than intended. Afterwards, Kammy made it clear that the race was still on – and very personal.

Vinny struggled with fatherhood in Emmerdale

Vinny palmed Thomas off on his mum again. Picking him up later, he was horrified to see that she’d painted his nails bright green. Whatever would Gabby think?

However, Mandy was quick to see through his excuses about a client being a no-show, and pressed him on why he didn’t want to spend time with Thomas. Vinny admitted he didn’t find Thomas easy to look after… worrying that he might take after his own awful abusive dad in disciplining the youngster.

Realising that this was something he needed to talk through with Gabby, Mandy told him that she’d not be looking after Thomas again until he opened up to his girlfriend.
